Dreamy pop electronica from PLYA on the sensual ‘Innocent’
Words: Ellie Ward
London-based alt-pop three-piece PLYA follow previous singles ‘Adrenaline' and 'Feast My Eye' with new release ‘Innocent’. Blending dreampop with electronica, PLYA (pronounced “ply-ah,” Spanish for “beach”), formerly known as Sykes before changing their name late last year, drop this latest along with 'Addiction' as an AA single.
“'Innocent' is about the nostalgia of looking back at purer times from a place filled with imperfections," says vocalist Julia Sykes, of the spacious, sensual track. "I was obsessed with the idea of people’s innocence being consumed by the systematic and dark underbelly of a city, which is hidden just beneath it’s glittery surface."
Creating a captivating soundscape with lush beats and synths under Julia's alluring vocal, ‘Innocent’ feels both darkly vulnerable as much as making a confident statement.
