Listen :: Austrian outfit Culk make debut with 'Begierde/Scham'
Words: Sam Geary
'Begierde/Scham' -[Desire/Shame] - is the official debut on Siluh Records by Viennese outfit Culk.
Seemingly they have now moved away from their early work which erred more to the shoegaze/ dreampop side, by delving into layered guitar sonics with distorted chords which reverberate around lead singer Sophie Löw's standout vocals which are apt to veer between unpredictable melodic outbursts and the quieter, more mysterious side.
Sung in German, it would be nice to hear what Culk sound like in the English language, as this release shows they have a certain enigmatic promise.
The band are currently working on their first full-length album, due for release early next year.
