With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.

Melbourne duo Juice Webster and Robert Downie's new single - from their upcoming March EP - is an intimate lesson in electronic minimalism and follows previous single 'Skin' as further evidence of Hemm's quiet transformation into virtuosos of ambient pop. “It’s about the feeling of betrayal that comes with supporting someone who you come to realise doesn’t deserve your support,” says Juice. Hemm play a single launch show in Melbourne on February 15 at Gene + Peta.

The high-energy thrasher comes with billowing guitars that churn out soaring hooks. "The song is about a person going crazy/insane over another person they really like or want to be with, then learning that they just need to be happy with everyday life."

CAMARANO - WHEN I HAD INFINITY

Perth alt-pop vocalist/guitarist/synthist Mat Camarano follows last year's 'Somebody Else' EP with this new mellow psychedelic electronica single that draws together laid back guitars, smooth vocals and ambulating percussion. "'When I Had Infinity' explores the ideas of apathy, of being a recluse, of getting so totally consumed and obsessed with a project that time gets away from you," he says.

FRANCIS FOXX - INCINERATE

Frontman of Perth band JFK, James Knox makes his debut here as solo project, Francis Foxx. Stripped back electronica in a downtempo mode of softly soaring vocals with lyrics that revolve around long-distance love. "I wrote 'Incinerate' at the start of 2018," he says. "I’d been writing and releasing a whole heap of music and I had a bit of a moment where this track just clicked. It felt like me, it sounded like me, and that was really exciting."

VOIID - VILE

New single from the Brisbane garage-punk four-piece, ahead of their second EP due later this year.' Recorded at Swan Pond Studios with producer Ali Richardson, the ferocious three and a half minutes pack a soaring punch of thick guitar melodies and soaring vocal which glides over the top. "'Vile' is a song written about a personal experience that caused a lot of hardship and pain. While the lyrics convey negative connotations, they are relatable to a lot of situations people in their late teens can go through."
