With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.



SAFIA - RESOLUTION


Canberra's electronic pop trio follow 2018’s ‘Starlight‘ with a fresh cut from their upcoming second album 'Story’s Start or End'. Ben Woolner's vocals and percussion are etched on the atmospheric track. “'Resolution' is the struggle of two opposing halves. It explores the inner dialogue of change and attempts to portray the feeling of freedom that comes when we separate ourselves from ego," say the band.

VALLEY ONDA - RELENTLESS

The Sydney trio make their debut with this low-key builder, that blends hushed vocals with electronic and acoustic percussion, synth and strings, with a lyrical exploration on themes of mortality and broken relationships.

ECHO OHS - FOOL


The second fuzzy cut from the Auckland, NZ trio's EP 'Wild Weeds', out in July. Garage psych-surf vibes melded with reverb and singer and bassist Yolanda Fagan delivering a cool psych-styled vocal.

PARKVILLE - WALKABOUT


This is a real grower. The new single - out May 31 - from Melbourne alt-folk-pop trio. Coming out of the gloriously named Dandenong Ranges, they busked on Melbourne streets, before Liam, Michael and Dylan developed their style combining rich three-part vocal harmonies and soaring violin riffs. Catch live at single launch show on June 8 at The Catfish in Fitzroy, Victoria.

MY ELEPHANT RIDE- DIAMOND EYES


More soulful indie from yet another trio, this time from Melbourne. They return with this second taste of their forthcoming second album ‘Beyond the Skin’, out June 21. Joe Berridge, Chevaunne Keleher and Nathan Abbey combine smooth dual vocals with a bree. melodic retro-feel rhythms.

RETIREE - GATE


Following last year's ‘House or Home’ album, the Sydney three-piece return with this slow burner with lyrics confronting Australia's treatment of asylum seekers, wrapped in funky synth-pop, driven by dance beat percussion and bass line. On tour now in UK - check Facebook for details.
