** PREMIERE ** Slender Pins - Not Long Now

Words: Izzy Butler

Slender Pins may not have much of a back catalogue so far, but the south-east London outfit are making noises in all the right places in the short space of time they have been together since forming late last summer.

Releasing their first demo, 'Where's the Money', this February, it was enough to catch the attention of Gary Crowley at BBC Music Introducing in London, Amazing Radio. a number of other online radio sources and blogs, as well as live promoters This Feeling.

Now the indie punk four are about to follow up with their second release, 'Not Long Now'. Officially out this Friday (May 3), Little Indie can proudly give you an advance listen in our exclusive premiere.

Self-produced by drummer Ed Skerry in his home studio (aka, living room!), the track combines the thought-provoking lyrics of lead vocalist Ash Burt and the songwriting craftsmanship of Alex Sword. "Imagine if The Beatles and Joy Division were crossed with the likes of The Fall, Fat White Family, and Yak," is how the Pins describe themselves - and who are we to disagree.

The lyrics for 'Not Long Now' are about "lust and cosmic death," says Ash. "The track features a repetitive hypnotic rhythm reminiscent of The Fall, an apocalyptic chorus which reminds of the Pistols with a jagged earworm guitar riff, before giving way to a noise-driven ¾ waltz outro." And that should just about whet your appetite to hit the Play button!

Catch Slender Pins live on May 9 when they play a free entry London show at The Monarch in Camden for This Feeling.

Slender Pins are: Ash Burt - vocals, Alex Sword - guitar, Ed Skerry - drums, Rob Sword - bass
