Track Of The Day :: Courtyards - Stay Up

"Dirty reverb-soaked indie rock out of Yorkshire" from the four-man Huddersfield-based Courtyards, who, fresh from their appearance at Kendal Calling, drop their new single, 'Stay Up'.

Released last week, and the follow up to 'Colours' from earlier this year, while 'Stay Up’ is not exactly what might be termed 'rock' in the truest sense as it exerts a more synth-driven, summer alt-jangly pop vibe, it is rather pleasing, with its singalong chorus and upbeat melodies, and certainly one you are encouraged to listen to again.

“We’re incredibly happy with this track and have experimented more with synth, samples, and electronics during the production than ever before," says lead vocalist Matthew Riley.

"‘Stay Up’ is inspired by the desire to help those close to you with their mental health battles while at the same time working out how to be that figure of solidarity to confide in. It’s our most personal track to date and is inspired by our experiences with people close to us."
