Track Of The Week :: Amber Run - Affection

Words: Linn Branson

Nottingham trio Amber Run have returned with a lush new single 'Affection' and... it is simply not just the best they have ever sounded, but this is undoubtedly the best song you'll hear this week, if not this month.

The song - first performed live during their US tour last December- precedes the release of their forthcoming third album 'Philophobia', due out on September 27.

“I hope after people have heard the record they feel closer to the band," says frontman Joe Keogh explains. "Gone are the days where we feel angry to the point of pushing people away. We want to draw people in and keep them close. In the hope we could have a shared experience.”

Get up close to the quite beautiful four and a half minutes of 'Affection' below. It's a heart-tugger, that's for sure, and Keogh's voice is emotion personified, as he delivers lines like "Affection can be as cruel as it is kind / Lover, won't you give me a sign / Love can be as deaf as it is blind."

Amber Run will be touring the album in both UK and US later this year, see dates further down.
