There are few with a voice quite like that of Pinkish Blu's Brice Young who manages to sound sultry, sexy, sincere, sublime and full of honest emotion every time, nailing each song to perfection.
Coming to Little Indie's attention this time last year with the infectious
'Capricorn' - which we adored massively - Brice and his three partners who make up the Australian, Adelaide-based emo-pop band, all in their early twenties, sound even better here on new single 'Superstar', released today (August 23).
Listen to the lyrics. They don't just make you feel warm inside, and are so ear-carressingly comforting when delivered by the frontman, but the chorus is one for a mass crowd singalong (you can, of course, sing and sway along at home too).
"‘cause you’re really feeling like a superstar / and I’m standing on the road with a Christmas card / And if I'm really being honest / I wrote the words I love you / 'cause an old French film from '65 told me to"
"I guess I wanted to talk about what love can be without being mushy and sappy; I didn’t want to go to that place of weakness, I wanted to go to a place of wonder and intrigue," explains Brice. "For instance, when you really feel love, the sky may seem more blue, and the smell of rain might make you hungry. Love can really enhance the part of us that has brought the world all of its weird and wonderful art."
