With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.
IVEY - SCREAM

Gold Coast five-piece - who we featured last year with 'Won't Be' - share new single, a sweet and sultry alt-pop affair. "'Scream' is about realising that you’re at a low point, and trying to overcome adversity, even if it’s hard and even if it’s painful," they say. Catch live next on December 7 at Yalls Summer Festival in Yallingup, WA.
TWO PEOPLE - DREAM STEPPIN'
Melbourne duo return with a new slice of dance electronica, which sees vocalist Phoebe Lou and multi-instrumentalist Joseph Clough join up with Kllo's Simon Lam on production. The song, they say, is about “the unrelenting haunt of life. We tried to find somewhere both futuristic and historical. That’s what the song is about. Reoccurring dreams that take you somewhere surreal and leave you feeling a little uneasy.”
DICK MOVE - DICK MOVE

Auckland, NZ punk-rockers (featuring members of Master Blaster, Shitripper, Na Noise and Dateline), share their eponymous Peter Ruddell (Sulfate / Wax Chattels)-produced, rattling 88-second debut single. Fast-paced and punchy, filled with gang vocals, and described by the five-piece as "a play on words/the band's name and was a perfect opportunity to incorporate a role reversal." Catch live at the Whammy Bar in Auckland on December 7.
LUPINE - BOTTOMLESS

Melbourne-based outfit made their debut with 'Tell-Tale Heart' at the end of last year. Now, after second track '1800-MUM-DAD', they drop a jangly three-minutes of jangly garage-rock. "'Bottomless' is essentially a love letter to reckless love, defying convention and of course, coffee," they say. "It is a love letter to the simple pleasure of sitting with somebody you love and talking about everything and nothing at all."
REDHOOK - FAKE
Produced by Stevie Knight (Yours Truly, Stand Atlantic, The Dead Love) and Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive, Northlane), and released last week, the Sydney-based alt-rockers follow October's 'Guerrilla Radio' with new single. Opening with the menacing whispered vocals of lead singer Emmy Mack, before dropping into their trademark frenetic guitar riffs, added to with drums and gang vocals as the choruses explode with intensity. "This song is actually a bit of an in-joke," says Mack. "We wrote it as a vent session following a negative experience we had on tour. It’s a hostile little smartass of a tune, inspired by that awkward moment when you realise someone you always looked up to and admired isn’t all that they seem."
WILSN - SWEET THING
The Melbourne songstress returns after dropping 'Brand New World' at the start of November, with this new single of soulful, R&B styled smoothness, which she says is "a love letter to anyone struggling with their sense of self-worth - and to myself." Catch live for single launch show in Sydney on December 7 at the Golden Age Cinema.
