It's 'New' from Toronto's Light Rail Transit

Words: Ellie Ward

Toronto indie pop-rock group Light Rail Transit share a taste of their latest EP with its lead track, 'New'.

Taken from EP 'II', released last week, the track's rhythmic guitars and accompanying pulsing drums sets the pace from off;  its head-nodding, rolling melodies becoming even more engaging when joined with frontman Riley Urquhart-Ducharme’s vocal enhancement.

Lyrically, 'New' was "born out of twin ideas about the honeymoon phase of a relationship: the all-consuming, head-over-heels euphoria and the second-guessing, doubt, and moments of hesitation that follow," they say. "It's logic pitted against passion - the high of a new love and the knowledge that the crash is coming."

Listen now.
