Corella explode into spring with new single 'Puppets'

Words: Ellie Ward

During these lockdown weeks where we are all entombed on self-isolation, unable to meet, socialise and get on with our daily lives as normal. So, therefore, with all four members of Manchester's Corella sharing the same house, they have still been keeping busy whilst in quarantine.

Continuing to record and write as a band in addition to starting their weekly Instagram live ‘Club Corella’, where they play some original Corella material and each week cover a new track (tune in every Saturday from 7pm), they have also today dropped their first single of 2020 - 'Puppets'.

After last autumn's 'Come Around', the punchy ‘Puppets’ sets a vigorous pace through its propulsive two and a half minutes of multi-layered guitars, perforating synth textures and driving rhythms, which blend around Joel Smith’s carrying vocals.

“'Puppets' is a track that we’ve been sat on for a while, we struggled to get it right for some time, which kind of created the lyrical content," say the band. "Feeling frustrated and trapped creatively, we expressed that into this song.”

Check it out now.
