Norway's Moyka releases new track and video for ‘Kanazawa (Maybe We Don’t Have To Go There)’
Words: Ellie Ward
Norwegian future electronic pop artist Moyka follows last autumn's debut EP 'Circles', with new track 'Kanazawa (Maybe We Don’t Have To Go There)', taken from her second EP 'Spaces', released last week.
It is, says Monika Engeseth, “a symbol of all these places and dreams that fell away.”
'Kanazawa (Maybe We Don’t Have To Go There)' - inspired by a city in Japan - is a vibrant synth-laden post-breakup number, that is kept buoyant with drum machin beats and Moyka's infectious vocals.
The track comes with a video by Sara Westergaard Karlsen that serves as "a collage from a trip that never happened", and is made up of clips shot in Bergen, Oslo, London, Hamburg and Berlin.
"When you’re together with someone you create all these wishes and dreams to go and see places together and when you break up, all those things just fall away. 'Kanazawa' is a symbol of all these places and dreams that fell away," says Moyka.
