Georgie shares new single 'Simple Things' from just released debut album

Words: Paul Dawson

Hailing from Mansfield, Notts., singer-songwriter Georgie unveiled both the physical release of her 2020 debut album ‘At Home’ last Friday via Soul Kitchen Records (the label set up by Jake Bugg’s management company), as well as reprising 'Simple Things' from it.

The track, written at the beginning of the first UK coronavidus lockdown, arguably represents the album fantastically well. With its raw emotion, striking piano motif and sparse arrangements, 'Simple Things' focusses on looking for the positive with being trapped inside, something we can all relate too.

“It’s about how important those simple things are,” says Georgie, “I felt through lockdown it was only the simple things that we could enjoy like watching TV or playing Fifa.”

The album was one of the highlights of last year, proving itself to be a hit with her loyal fans, as the song throughout allowed her to provide a shining light through the dark times of the lockdown period.
