One To Watch :: Storms
They've been steadily building up a name over the past months since they first started creating ripples late last year. Beginning with the enticing sounds of their first single ‘Swell’, followed by some explosive live shows, now London four-piece Storms look set to kick up the proverbial storm to end one year with, and surely go into 2015 as a cert for the 'hotly tipped' lists.
Setting tinges of 90s shoegaze against grunge rock, after what was the heavy slice of 'Swell', came the riff-rich 'Undress' with its compelling chorus, was enough to fire up the Storms furnace to blogosphere fever pitch.
Latest, and final segment of the three-work plan, is 'Shame'. Unveiled this morning, the video, produced and directed by the band (and which should raise a grin here and there) provides the backdrop to a slow tempo, slacker slut of a track with George Runciman's insouciant, twisted vocal taking command.
Storms will play the Jazz Cafe, Camden tomorrow (November 1) as part of the Nightmare Festival, before they embark on a co-headline tour with LIFE next week, dates as follows:
November
05. The Duchess, York
06. Adelphi, Hull
07. Soup Kitchen, Manchester
08. Stealth, Nottingham
09. Broadcast, Glasgow
11. Oporto, Leeds
12. The Waiting Room, London
13. The Hope, Brighton
Storms are: George Runciman (vocals / guitar), Felix Howes (guitar), Yacob Andersen (bass), Gary Southwell (drums).
