Track Of The Day :: Lupa J - Waiting For Her

It's always a guaranteed pleasure when 17-year-old Sydney songstress Imogen Jones - bka Lupa J - unveils a new track. After we first heard her work, the debut single 'Statues' from early last summer (see here), she marked herself down as a prodigious talent.

Though still studying at Sydney's Conservatorium of Music, she has already released one EP, 'The Seed', and is now sharing new single 'Waiting For Her'.

This latest track is a near four-and-a-half minute seemingly dark relationship tale ("he's the only book she reads") pensive work, suffused with her electronica-alt pop style, and delicate, yet fast maturing, vocal.  As the song evolves over glitchy beats, icy textures and she questions, “I’m not so sure she can breathe with him / I’m not so sure she can breathe without him,” we are taken on a journey through the eyes of this young girl. Intelligent and clever stuff.
