Track Of The Day :: Kamikaze Girls - Tonic Youth

After having ranged from being a four- and three-piece during their existence, Leeds-based Kamikaze Girls have now settled on a cosy twosome - and just released their first, rather less than cosy, first single.

After their debut self-titled three-track cassette EP last October, the noisy grunge rock pair - Lucinda Livingstone vocals/bass, Conor Dawson, drums - have now turned their fuzzy alt rock distorted guitar / snarled grrrl vocals and to 'Tonic Youth'. Released yesterday (April 16) and available as a free Bandcamp download, the three-and-a-half minute track belts along on pounding drums and scorching guitar riffs, and with a catchy melody laying underneath Livingstone's dominant vocal.

Kamikaze Girls are currently recording a follow-up EP with Bob Cooper (Nai Harvest) for release later in the year.
