Watch :: Elvis Depressedly Examine the Destruction of Innocence With 'Thou Shall Not Murder' Video

In advance of his upcoming release of new album - the seventh under the banner of Elvis Depressedly - 'New Alhambra' on May 12 via Run For Cover Records, indie pop artist Mat Cochran has released a thought-provoking video to accompany single 'Thou Shall Not Murder'.

Cochran, who some will best know from his earlier output under the name of Coma Cinema, has been focused most recently on producing melancholic pop with a fragile, affecting edge, an approach that 'Thou Shall Not Murder' encapsulates perfectly.

Tracking in reverse the path of a young boy as he flees through fields away from something evidently terrifying, the video seems to gesture towards the theme of ruined childhood innocence- no matter how far the protagonist attempts to run, he'll invariably end up getting sucked back over and over towards the moment he suffered the trauma that we glimpse at the climax. It's a clever piece with a feel that nearly reflects the warm wistfulness of the track, whilst adding an undertone of discomfort that keeps you hooked right up to the jarring final seconds.

Watch the video below.
