It was only late last year that we first came across Day Wave - Jackson Phillips - one half of former synthpop duo Carousel, who was striking out as a solo venture. In our Introducing feature we highlighted first track 'Nothing At All'.
Now, over a million plays and critical acclaim later, including second track 'Total Zombie' put out earlier this year, Oakland-based Phillips is about to release his debut EP, 'Headcase', on July 17.
As an early EP taster, he has unveiled 'We Try But We Don’t Fit In', an effortlessly dreamy lo-fi, synth and sun-tinged track that in just under a week since being uploaded to Soundcloud, is already closing on 66,000 plays.
