Words: Ellie Ward
Pumarosa may be a new name to conjure with (though you may have come across them in their previous guise as Ada), but their debut track ‘Priestess’ - out now via Chess Club/ Mom+Pop (US) - is one you won't forget. After premiering on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, the London five-piece band have since been picking up praise and plays all over.
Produced by Dan Carey (Sexwitch, Bat For Lashes, Toy), the seven-minute long track (which follows the two electronic pop demos ‘Red’ and ‘Dragonfly’ they unveiled earlier in the year) is an impressive and ambitious, building in a strange mix of brooding textures and electronics.
Pumarosa support Gengahr on tour next month.
