Track Of The Day :: XOCKHA - Losing Sight
Words: Linn Branson
After Little Indie first introduced the Isle of Wight crew with the unpronounceable name here a year ago, and with Radio X's John Kennedy hailing them as a band to watch in 2016, XOCKHA are now back with a new track.
Released last week, 'Losing Sight', the band’s vocalist Ben Jones told us, can be is summed up lyrically in the title: "Losing sight of something in your life, whether it's a goal or a relationship. I guess that's what Frankie [Baker, guitarist] took from it as well, because he came up with the title and 'losing sight' isn't even in the lyrics!"
Following last October's single 'Need It To Stay', XOCKHA (pronounced 'EX-OC-KA') once again offer in 'Losing Sight' a lushly driven indie pop melody, intertwined with twinkly synths and upbeat groove of a rhythm section, helmed by Jones' engaging vocal - all building to a climactic instrumental end.
XOCKHA play London's Half Moon in Putney tomorrow (March 29) as part of The Isle of Wight Festival's 'Live and Unsigned' competition (which gives unsigned artists the chance to perform at the festival this year).
