New girl on the block and another teen emerging from the fertile DIY musical wastes of Essex, is 17-year-old Rayleigh girl Frances Murray, who, under her BLAB moniker, released this debut single 'Johnny' on Friday.
The lead cut from the music student's upcoming debut EP, 'Everything Is Everyone Else's Fault', released on July 1, 'Johnny' draws on influences such as Nirvana and Arctic Monkeys with its scratchy bedroom garage style - on which Frances plays all instruments apart from the programmed drums - while vocally there's a distinct nod to Courtney Barnett.
