Track Of The Day :: West Of The Sun - Trip On A Turntable

Words: LB

With their first single 'Siberian Hysteria' getting a 4.5/5 rating from us back in January, London-by-way-of-Derbyshire indie rock five-piece West Of The Sun now follow that with 'Trip On A Turntable'.

Out on June 17 via Phoney War Records, it is every bit as good - if not better - than its predecessor, which the band describe as “imagining a life spent revolving on a turntable listening to one’s favourite music.” Well, if we could listen to WOTS all day, there'd be no complaints here!

Frontman Luke Ward - still sounding to us like a psyched-out Liam Gallagher - has a commanding vocal presence that is the perfect foil for those sliding synth teases amidst twanging guitars and waves of psychedelic melodies.

Two out of two hitting it right on the nail for Little Indie. Bring on that album.

West Of The Sun play a single launch show at the Soundhouse, Leicester on June 18, followed by a London date at The Borderline on July 2.
