Listen :: Kiran Leonard - Coyoacan

Words: Ellie Ward

The latest release from 20-year-old Mancunian Kiran Leonard is no lightweight affair, telling the story of “Trotsky and his wife, at home in Mexico City, lamenting infighting on the left, in spite of a beautiful world rampant with tyrants.”

‘Coyoacan’ is the first work since his 'Grapefruit' album earlier this year, and once again highlights Leonard's singular vocal style as it flows over two-and-a-half minutes of scratchy interwoven sounds and sparkling shafts of percussion.

Currently in his second year of a degree course in Spanish and Portuguese at Wadham College, Oxford, Leonard breaks off for a short run of live shows from tonight.
