** PREMIERE ** Spears - Me-I

Words: Linn Branson

Following their earlier single 'The Forest', Sheffield's Spears are back with a banger of a new track and visuals too, the latter which Little Indie premieres here.

Little Indie first came across the teen four-piece - fronted by the then 16-year-old Rowan Scott, who just turned 18 this past Saturday - nearly 18 months ago, introducing them here last April. Since then they have played The Great Escape festival and released two singles.

The video clip, filmed by CSD Videography, which accompanies forthcoming third release 'Me-I' - out on November 11 through End Of The Trail Records - was shot in a disused warehouse in Sheffield and features the band looking suitably moody and enigmatic as they perform the track, interspersed with Rowan wandering around looking soulful.

'Me-I' itself, Spears tell us, is a song "about feeling that life is just a big race to death; that surely there's a better way than job, marriage, car, mortgage, etc.? That makes us sound a bit morbid, but it's just an observation."

Spears play The Rocking Chair, Sheffield on September 17 with Broken Witt Rebels (sold out), with a UK tour lined up for November (dates to be announced shortly).
