Listen :: 'Don't Let Go' of Strong Asian Mothers - this could be the one
Words: Linn Branson
Little Indie made a passing Twitter comment awhile back of how we thought Strong Asian Mothers were just one step away from breaking, and that all they needed was one big radio-friendly track to get them there. The band responded with a tweet saying they were thinking of covering Khia's 'My Neck, My Back (Lick It)'. We won't go any further there - Google it - but it wasn't quite what we had in mind, let's say.
While we think that particular cover may have been in jest from the London trio, they are pretty serious on this latest offering, a rework of the En Vogue R'n'B classic 'Don't Let Go'.
They add their own unique splashes of glitchy electronics to the original which has been part of the Mums' live set, and which could see Amer Chadha Patel, Josh Stadlen and Kalim Patel reaching a new audience with their cross-pollinated blend of influences in the alt-electronic groove.
Catch the band live at their headline show on November 30 at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, London.
