BEACH WEATHER - CHIT CHAT
Released earlier this month, the sprightly and infectious title track from the Massachusetts trio's - Nick Santino, Reeve Powers and Austin Scates - EP released on November 4 via LAB / 8123. Produced by brothers Alex and Sean Silverman, they exude a crisp, fuzzy pop energy. Star rating: ★★☆☆☆
CLOCK OPERA - WHIPPOORWILL
Guy Connelly brings his London quartet back with a second album, ‘Venn’, out via League of Imaginary Nations and !K7 on February 10 2017, their belated follow-up to 2012's debut ‘Ways To Forget'. This first track shows a darker element to their sound though still with the distinctive alto vocals and sleek rhythm section. Star rating: ★★★☆☆
FORTH WANDERERS - NERVES
The New Jersey skacker rock five-piece follow 'Know Better and 'Slop' with this track of moody, grungey guitars and Ava Trilling's alto vocals. From the band's upcoming EP ‘Slop’, out on November 11 via Marathon and Father/Daughter. Star rating: ★★☆☆☆
COCOA FUTURES - BEE
Lifted from the forthcoming ‘Blue’ EP - produced by Marc Withasee (Micachu & the Shapes) - out on Lost In The Manor Records on December 2. Electro-edged, indie pop grower from the London-based outfit, the follow-up to ‘The Blue’. “This song plays with the idea that different animals might experience emotions that we might not expect,” explains vocalist Greg. “I like how the lyrics have an almost children’s song vibe about them - coupled with a pretty filthy bassline.” Star rating: ★★★☆☆
DRAHLA - FICTIONAL DECISION
Produced by Hookworms' MJ and released on October 15, the Leeds noise-punk trio offer a sub four-minute blast of hypnotic post-punk on this debut offering. Catch live at Wharf Chambers, Leeds on November 19. Star rating: ★★★★☆
