Listen :: Cessna Deathwish share personal new single 'The Bends' with free London gig this week

Words: Ellie Ward

Brighton's Cessna Deathwish release new single 'The Bends' on February 24, the follow-up to last year's debut ‘Jensen’.

This more sombre and more personal track from the quartet was written by lead singer George McCanna about his Uncle Nigel, who took his life after a long battle with stage 4 throat cancer.

George says: “I was struck when talking with him 2 weeks before his death as he was in a state of euphoria and had such clarity on his life after a difficult road, he seemed very peaceful. It really drove home to me that suicide is a decision made in a moment that cannot be taken back. I had empathy for his state of mind and although I wish he hadn't made the decision he did, I could understand it.”

The band play a free entry London show this Thursday (February 16) at The Monarch, Camden, followed by a single launch party at The Hope and Ruin, Brighton on March 4 for This Feeling.
