It's a little confusing when you initially get sent something by Sleeptalk as you need to delve a little deeper to see which sleep state these are actually in. With two bands going under the same name, one on America's East Coast and the other on the West Coast, you can imagine all sorts of problems occurring.
Though Little Indie has covered both, the one here is the Los Angeles-based, electro-spacepop five-piece who are leading up to the release of their full-length album out later this summer. After sharing first tracks from it, 'Indio, California' and 'Love', they now bring out 'This Feeling (Ft. Rouxx)'.
"'The Feeling' is one of many songs that didn't end up making our debut record, but it's a track that we're still very proud of and felt that it deserved some spotlight," says vocalist Anthony Fitzpatrick. We agree. How this didn't make the album is puzzling as it's definitely the best we have heard from Sleeptalk yet.
The song is about addiction, Fitzpatrick adds. "The hook 'Aye nothing makes you feel OK / we were just born this way' is the devil on my shoulder telling me it's OK to keep going, but you're fighting with yourself because you no longer want that addiction. Myself and one of my best friends Rouxx, who is also one of the producers for Sleeptalk, wrote this song together. We wrote this song in about an hour, everything flowed together so perfectly. It's definitely a song we wanted everyone to hear."
Yer shoulda put it on the album then!
Check out the video to the track - which was shot while the band was on a recent tour with The Color Wild - below.
