Track Of The Day :: Floral Scene - 25

Words: Linn Branson

Formed early last year by the Warrington King brothers, Joe (vocals, guitar) and Louis (lead guitar), '25' is the debut single from Manchester band Floral Scene.

Joined by Adam Catterall (bass) and Ellis Cullen (drums) in November, the four were ready to work on what they call their 'super sugary pop' sound, and put out a demo 'Sand' which was to bring them to attention locally.

'25' (which was released late last month), they say, is about, "being young and not mature enough to maintain a relationship, so just wait until you're older - or 25!" With its infectious groove, it's not hard to find their inspirations: a touch of their local Warrington heroes Viola Beach in the jangly, catchy beats coupled with an indelible touch of Birmingham in the melodies, and particularly, Joe King's vocal styling. It sounds and feels like a winning combination and one that should stand Floral Scene in good stead on the music scene.
