Introducing :: Generation

Words: Jane Davies

Liverpool punk outfit Generation (formerly known as Spares) have got to be one of the snappiest dressed bands going in the city. Described as looking “like missing cast members from the Lost Boys,” they are rocking a glam style which few of their contemporaries could pull off - namely big hair and leopard print suits.

Not only do they look the part, they sound the part, having recently impressed at Liverpool Sound City with an electrifying set full of attitude; snarling vocals and wild riffs to match their barnets.

The band, who although are not strictly new, having been around since early 2013 honing their live act, have been busy in the studio working on what will be their debut EP, ‘Who Loves This Generation?’ which is released on June 30. It packs in a title track and three additional songs: ‘I Like It’, ‘Honey Mouth Girl’ and ‘Wake Up’. If you like the current punk resurgence, do have a listen, there are hints of all the punk greats there, particularly Generation X. Now isn’t that a coincidence!

Generation are: Dean Carne - lead vocals; James Carne - lead guitar, vocals; Tom Collins - bass, vocals; Nathan Sanderson - drums, vocals.
