Their second album 'Laika’ is out on September 29 via their own label Apres Vous Records, but before that, Wales’ Samoans offer a new track from the album, ‘Future Ghost’.
The first track penned for the record, vocalist Dan Barnett says: "The lyrics were written during the 'Rescue' [their 2014 debut full-length] sessions but I never quite got the music right until much later. I was starting to play more piano and writing on a different instrument opened up a whole new pool of ideas. I wanted to do something that sounded like Nine Inch Nails meets Oceansize. I think we got it.”
We think they have. 'Future Ghost' fuses a metronome and ponderous piano opening with expansive atmospherics, while Dan's sotto voce delivery and percussion add a hypnotic touch - before it all changes pace and kicks off around 2:14.
