'This Time' is wonderful. Really. Wonderful. If you're not hooked in the first minute of the five-minute-plus track, then at the midway point where Christian Boffa’s vocals excel with a grunt here and there, followed by the twanging electric lead guitar of Max Lechte, you surely will be. As for the last 90 seconds or so, don't even get me started. Sublime.
This new single is the follow-up to Australian alt-rockers The Slingers' debut four-track June released EP, 'Fake Fruit'. And considering the group formed only earlier this year, their accomplished sound, and particularly Boffa’s voice, feels confident and honed.
Veering around a The War On Drugs meets an Americana-like The Black Keys to something homeboys DMA'S could turn out, this Melbourne-based fivesome are a winning combination.
