One of America’s greatest rock bands, The Killers, return to Manchester for the first time in five years, and for the first of their two night stint at the Arena; with new album 'Wonderful, Wonderful' to air, it was all set to be a show you had to be there for.

The night started off with the title track from the LP, which had the crowd going from the very start with their fans all singing along to the newly popular song. As they followed this with the opening to 'The Man', the whole Arena, immediately recognising the funky beat, took to their feet to dance along as confetti cannons were set off covering the crowd below with the red paper strips.

Throughout the 22-song set, which covered both the new, the likes of 'Somebody Told Me', 'Smile Like You Mean It' and 'Believe Me Natalie' - still sounding fresh after 13 years - and a cover of Joy Division's 'Shadowplay', Brandon Flowers led the night with his energetic stage presence which encouraged the audience to sing along lively to their songs.

Following 'Human', 'This River Is Wild' and 'A Dustland Fairytale', Flowers then announced that the next song 'Be Still' would be dedicated “for those we’ve lost” in tribute to those who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena terrorist attack. This was a lovely moment shared by everyone in the Arena and left the audience quite emotional.

After finishing the set on 'All These Things That I've Done', and with the crowd cheering for an encore, the band duly emerged back onto the stage to perform a four-song encore of 'The Calling', 'Believe Me Natalie', 'When You Were Young', and the classic Killers number, 'Mr. Brightside'. Flowers could be seen now wearing a gold sparkly suit as he danced around on the stage, clearly enjoying the last few songs with their Manchester fans, as the energy-charged night closed on a triumphant finish to leave the audience heading for home in a state of nostalgia.
