** PREMIERE ** EP :: Sleepovers - Heartbreak High

Words: Linn Branson

After featuring on Little Indie's Roundtable last month with 'Group Therapy', London’s lo-fi, slacker-pop five Sleepovers today (March 9) drop their debut EP 'Heartbreak High' on their own Sleepovers Records label.

Little Indie is stoked to give you the premiere of this first EP release, which is described as an emotional map of the inside of the band’s heads featuring an array of emotions and influences.

Opening on poppy indie rock nugget, debut single ‘Good Sides’, its infectious early Blur-esque vibes provide a tasty EP intro. Followed by the more Britpop-influenced ‘Here We Go Again Now’ where the band incorporate echoey drums and laid-back melodies akin to The Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses. ‘Luv U’ sees vocalist Alfie Smith slur his way through his mixed emotions towards a would-be-partner capturing the desperation and honesty through a slower, dreamlike soundscape.

The EP closes with the aptly titled ‘Group Therapy’ - incorporating a kaleidoscope of shimmering guitars and haunting melodies in a catchy, shoegaze-Britpop-esque wrapping around lyrics which Smith says came from, "self-medicating a broken heart and head which ultimately led to turning to others for help.’’

“It was a period in my life where I was in-between jobs and met a little trouble maker who stole my heart and confused my head," the frontman goes on. "The struggle was documented throughout this EP and opened up a brighter, clearer and cleaner future.”

Sleepovers play an EP launch show at London's Paper Dress Vintage on March 17.

Sleepovers are: Alfie Smith (lead vocals), Tom Reynolds (bass), Elliot Crabtree (lead guitar), Ed Reynolds (guitar), Ashley Hodge (drums)
