With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.
BUTTERNUT SWEETHEART - BURY ME
The project of Sydney multi-instrumentalist and producer Luke Moseley, melds the organic with electronic manipulation - such as transposing a piano to sound like a synth - while lyrically dealing with dark themes. "Expressing grief is not something that comes naturally to me," he says. “'Bury Me' became my way of processing a feeling of overwhelming emotional emptiness. My emotional self was buried, and I was ‘looking for a heartbeat’ or ‘any sign of life’. The song ends with acceptance and embracing my inner ‘death’. As dark as it is, I’m fairly sure there’s a positive message to be found somewhere inside the song."
FEVER PARTY - STAY LOST
Title track of the Auckland, NZ garage rock duo's - singer/guitarist Gareth Shute and drummer Jay Purkiss - three-track EP, released last week. Shute describes it as “about not wanting to face up to reality, whether that relates to one's personal life or bigger issues (like climate change)”.
LUX - I NEED LOVE

THE PINHEADS - NO TIME
