Watch :: The Murder Capital - On Twisted Ground
Words: Linn Branson
Filmed at La Boule Noire in Paris at the end of April, The Murder Capital perform a truly spine-tingling version of 'On Twisted Ground' for their first ever show in the French capital.
James McGovern, as frontman, is always going to be in pole position for attention-holding, but this unadorned song - written to a close friend of James who took his own life - they strip away the visual menace of their live show for something quite different; tragic beauty personified in this achingly raw number, that feels almost too private, too intimate, to be intruding on as a listener.
I defy you not to be wiping a tear away by the end of this, which has been beautifully captured here. [As a tip, watch on your smartphone, switched to full screen mode.] You'll have to wait until August 16 for the recorded version on their debut album, 'When I Have Fears'.
cé go bhfuil an brón go hiontach, is é sin ceol na beatha.

This is so gut-wrenching, but so honest and emotional.
