Hey Bulldog are heading to 'California'
Words: Sam Geary
Released tomorrow (June 28) digitally via Doing it to Death Record and Sister 9 Recordings, Hey Bulldog drop new single 'California', containing what they describe as "the dirtiest, greasiest, hedonistic, tumbling back-alley bassline for decades."
The bass-driven stoner rock track from the Manchester garage psych-rock trio was mixed by Boe Weaver (Archie Bronson Outfit, The Go Team, Wolf People), and inspired by Californian underground garage rock legend Rex ‘Tatarex’ Thompson. His band The Summer Hits released a handful of singles between 1992-1996 and were played on BBC Radio 1 by legendary DJ John Peel. Hey Bulldog guitarist and songwriter Rob Manton had met Rex by chance in California 18 Months before Thompson’s death in 2016.
Try it now.
