Track Of The Day :: Irish quartet NewDad get dreamy and 'Blue'

Words: Izzy Butler

Galway-based indiegaze quartet NewDad return with their follow up to ‘Swimming’ and ‘Cry’.

The dreamy, self-recorded ‘Blue’ - out today (September 4) - contains some lush dreampop guitar that underpins the sensuous, supreme and soporific lo-fi vocals of lyricist Julie Dawson.

"While you took your time / You wasted mine / I said 'I wanted you' /  You said you felt too blue"

“The song describes a divide in a relationship," say the band. "It tells the story from the perspective of someone who wants more, but the other person can’t give it to them. It is the feeling of holding someone back because you feel too blue.”

At 3:17, it is all over way too quickly - now I'm feeling blue! Another listen, I think...
