Track Of The Day :: The Black Lamps - The Archivist
Following in the footsteps of other Barnsley sons such as Exit Calm and Pusher, The Black Lamps are now treading the same export path from the Yorkshire hills down to...well, down through your eardrums, hopefully.
The ambient post-rock four-piece will release their debut album on January 12, via fledgling Yorkshire independent label Of National Importance Records. The self-titled effort comprises ten tracks recorded over the last few years with Steve Ellis (Hey Sholay, Cavorts, Steel Trees) of Orion Studio. The band mixed the record themselves before handing over mastering duties to Tom Woodhead (Hookworms, Post War Glamour Girls) at Hippocratic.
Listen to album track 'The Archivist' below. A good representation of the band's sound: fluid intro leading into a melodic structure of lush-sounding basslines, reverbed guitar, pounding drums, and the vocals Liam Stewart holding it all in place.
You can also hear another track from the record, 'The Smoking Party', as well as pre-order via Bandcamp.
