Listen :: Liu Bei's Richard Walters Unveils New Track - 'Zero Visibility'

After having put out some impressive singles like 'Infatuation' and the 'Goodness' EP released last month,  Liu Bei singer Richard Walters now comes out under his own name with a new solo track, 'Zero Visibility'.

The song builds over just under three minutes of pulsing, layered rhythms, with Walters' falsetto and piano riding over the top in his trademark expressively affecting way. The track comes as part of Walters' 'Field Recording' subscription album project, a solo record in twelve parts produced by London based Aidan O'Brien, which began in October 2014.

Walters explains the inspiration behind the song as deriving from "a drunken night in New York": "I'd played a horrendous, soul crushing gig in Brooklyn and found myself walking back to my hotel at midnight in the pissing rain. Halfway across the Brooklyn Bridge I noticed the Empire State Building winking at me and decided I had to get to the top. When I got there I was told it was 'zero visibility' - nothing to see...I went up anyway. It was cloud and more cloud, no view at all...but I had this sudden, genuine, life affirming moment just being there."

Richard Walters plays North Wall Arts Centre, Oxford on April 29.
