First Listen :: WHITE

‘Future Pleasures’ is the debut single from new Scottish five-piece WHITE, released on July 5 via RCA.

Forming a year ago in Glasgow, the five members shared a passion for the musical adventures of fellow Scots Orange Juice and Franz Ferdinand, whilst also drawing on the frenetic playing of Gang Of Four and the unconventional pop of Roxy Music.

They first started raising attention with first track outing 'Living Fiction' last autumn, with vocalist Leo Condie (one-time frontman of Glasgow indies The Low Miffs) being described as possessing "Bowie-esque" tonsils. Certainly theatrical in the best way possible, never overshadowing the precise and lean musicianship on show. Jagged guitar courtesy of Hamish Fingland (formerly with alt folk-rockers Kassidy), offset by soaring synth strikes, whilst Kirstin Lynn’s (who previously hit the sticks with trio Garden of Elks) drumming drives the track forward.

Finding their sound with some low-key shows in Glasgow, WHITE have already hit the road with Will Butler of Arcade Fire as well as supporting Future Islands when they toured the UK. After playing The Great Escape last weekend, WHITE line up the following:

May
22. Dot To Dot Festival, Manchester
23. Dot To Dot Festival, Bristol
24. Dot To Dot Festival, Nottingham
August
01. Gentlemen Of The Road Festival
