Track Of The Day :: Cassels - Hating Is Easy
The two brothers from Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, Jim (guitar / vocals) and Loz (drums / vocals) Beck, started out two years ago but have really made headway in attracting attention over the course of the last twelve months.
They may only number two in the band, but combine such heavy doses of grunge, noise, punk, and enough fire and fierceness that belies their member count. And it all comes together on their four-track debut EP, 'Hating Is Easy', out in July.
The title track opens on a cacophony of raucous drums and guitar, with raw-edged vocals cutting in here and there. But just when you think this is its mainstay, the rather lovely melodics and harmonising later come in and it all builds into something furiously impressive.
‘Hating Is Easy’ is out on July 6 via Big Scary Monsters/Idiot King Recordings.
And if you like what you hear, they play East London's Flufferfest tonight (May 22) at the Shacklewell Arms, along with Sunlight Service Group, Pink Lizards, Thee MVPS and Bad For Lazarus. See our feature here.
