Track Of The Day :: Murder Shoes - Charlotte Manning

Murder Shoes from Minneapolis have just released (May 1) their new self-titled EP via Land Ski Records, the follow-up to last year's pre-Christmas 'Cash On Fire' drop.

It features five songs brimming with surf noir drama and pop shenanigans, including the single, 'Maybe You Can', produced and mixed by Knol Tate.

Have to admit to not having heard of this indie surf rock five-piece prior to a month or so ago when sent the EP. The first track which actually stood out on first hearing - and still does - was not in fact the single as above, but opening track 'Charlotte Manning', where the alluring and sultry vocals of Tess Weinberg and the dark surf slide guitars wash over you like a laid-back late night drive, that's powered by purposeful percussion and punctuated with strident drums and catchy bass line as the 'car' speeds up.

If you happen to be in Minneapolis tonight (May 8), Murder Shoes play at the Nomad World Pub with Pleasure Horse.

Murder Shoes are: Tess Weinberg - vocals, keys; Derek Van Gieson - guitar; Chris White - guitar, vocals; Tim Heinlein - bass; Elliot Manthey - drums
