If you suffer from one of them 'obias like odontophobia (fear of dentists) and/or hemophobia (fear of blood), listening to a band who call themselves Loose Tooth and with a single titled 'Bites Will Bleed' may well be your idea of a nightmare. But, rest assured that this debut track from the Melbourne trio - Etta Curry, Nellie Jackson and Luc Dawson - contains no gory elements, and their garage pop style should remove thoughts away from images the words might conjure up.
'Bites Will Bleed', released last Friday (February 5), is taken from 'Saturn Returns', the debut EP out April 1 through Courtney Barnett's Milk! Records label, and follows last August's debut single 'Everything Changes'. Recorded by Paul Maybury (Rocket Science, The Pink Tiles) and mastered by Mikey Young, ‘Bites Will Bleed’ chugs out plenty of feisty guitar riffs, sweetened by Curry's soaring vocal and some psych harmonies. All a bit lovely.
