Melbourne's garage punk girls Lazertits may have a name suited to a sci-fi movie, but there's no mistaking that the five girl outfit - with a song repertoire revolving around everything from berry milkshakes and Japanese rockers Shonen Knife to gender issues - who have just released their debut EP 'Aubergine Dreams' last week (12" vinyl coming on April 1), have that indefinable quality that looks like reaching far outside of Australia.
After releasing their first single 'Gender Studies' last May, their 90s riot girrl meets The Clash vibe has seen Lazertits steadily build up a name on the home scene. And while the EP's four tracks don't even reach 15 minutes in total, they do all exhibit a catchy, off-kilter quality, filled with catchy riffs, choppy harmonising and plenty of girrl power.
Lazertits are: Rose - vocals, Vicko - guitar, Lexi - guitar, Amy - bass, Emo - drums
