Track Of The Day :: The Assist - Nyabinghi
Words: Linn Branson
You somehow know these are cheeky lads, don't you, just by looking at them! We featured Walsall's purveyors of distinctly moreish Britrock grooves, The Assist, here just before Christmas with 'Love' (which we did).
Now the four repeat their infectious vibes, lad style, and Twang-esque vocals with newly dropped 'Nyabinghi'.
I admit to not having the foggiest who or what 'Nyabinghi' is - but according to the band it's a Rastafarian tribe who spread love and don't believe in violence - or, come to that, getting full comprehension of the lyrics, but with its reggae feel coupled with Mikey Stanton's distinctive rap style vocal delivery, there's enough feelgood appeal for a dull day, and a tune to hum around in your head. Yeah, man.
