New Sounds #99 September 24 2016

NATIVE OTHER - PALMS
Chilled reverbed indie from the Canadian quartet from Oshawa, Ontario. "The first song we wrote that really captured the sound and energy of what we are trying to achieve with Native Other," is taken from their upcoming debut EP 'If I Can Keep It Together', out on October 7. Star rating: ★★

SACRED PAWS - EVERYDAY
New double zesty A-side single (w/’Rest’) released through Rock Action on October 21, from the duo of guitarist/bassist Rachel Aggs (of Shopping and Trash Kit) and drummer Eilidh Rodgers. Infectious melodies and harmonies, coupled with layers of fizzy guitar energy. Star rating: ★★

FENECH-SOLER - KALEIDOSCOPE
Brothers Ben and Ross Duffy - return after a three-year break (and minus their former two members) with a new release, and seemingly newly invigorated, judging by this title track from their upcoming EP. Definitely one for the dancefloor movers and groovers. Star rating: ★★

HONEYBLOOD - SEA HEARTS
In advance of the Glaswegian duo's
second album, 'Babes Never Die', a fuzzy, hypnotic blast comes via the feisty and catchy vibes of this cut. On tour now, playing Aberdeen's Lemon Tree on September 25 and Glasgow's Hug and Pint on 26th. Star rating: ★★

BEATCOMBER - SICK BREEZE
A sub-two-minute, infectious garage-pop offering from the Wellington, New Zealand five-piece, helmed by Sophie Scott-Maunder’s dulcet vocals and groovy harmonies that just makes one wish the whole thing were longer. Star rating: ★★
