Track Of The Day :: Kasakela - Shouldn't Do

Words: Linn Branson

Introduced here last year, Essex outfit Kasakela are back with a new single and sounding just fabulous.

The originally Southend-based (now scattered around the country at different universities) five-piece have finally got around to a follow-up to last autumn's debut single 'Peachy', which caught the attention of BBC Introducing and a live support slot with fellow Essex lad Rat Boy.

'Shouldn't Do', which came out this past weekend, is a sub-five-minute engaging slice of indie, that while less exuberant than its predecessor, shows a track with more textured layers of guitar, synth and drums, with infectious rhythms and Joel Costi-Mouiya implementing just the right vocal dynamic.

There's another single in the offing for early New Year, but before that Kasakela return to Essex for a Southend home show at Chinnerys on September 30 supporting Sun Arcana. More dates to be confirmed for early 2017.
