Track Of The Day :: Love Ghost - Mystery Box

Words: Sam Geary

After we featured LA teenage alt-rockers Love Ghost here back in early July, they have been picking up plaudits for their grunge-framed sound both home and away.

Now the four-piece follow their shining debut 'Friday Afternoon' with 'Mystery Box'. Produced by Mark Renk (P.O.D.), the track is another from their six-song, self-titled debut EP, and was written by 15-year-old vocalist/guitarist Finn Bell while skating around his local home area. After a gentle, evocative opening of Bell's raw vocals snd elegant guitar riffs, it all kicks off around 1:52 mark with an onslaught of distorted guitars, bass and drums, all housed in 90s grunge textures.

“‘Mystery Box’ refers to a box inside me,” says Bell. “Inside the box are a lot of feelings and memories, things I don’t like, things I do like. I have a theory that everyone has a box like this inside of them, but many people can’t open it.”
