Sydney's Citizen Of The World harness strains of guitar, piano and vocal harmonies on 'In The Moment', their latest single released last month, about “living in the present”, looks like it could equal the 100k+ digital streams last single ‘Embers’ has achieved since its May release.
The band formed in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2012 when vocalist Gerrit Gmel began jamming with old friends and writing songs inspired by life events at the time. Moving to Sydney, Australia later that year, Gerrit re-established the band with new members, and created their folk-rock sound, which can range from soulful acoustic melodies to foot thumping beats, in a Mumford & Sons style.
